Description
College Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the 16th to 17th century and was built in two or more phases. The structure is timber framed, featuring a late 19th-century white brick facade, with parts that are roughcast rendered and plastered. The roof is covered with pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic in the right-hand wing.
The main range is flanked by cross wings and has five windows, which are mostly 19th-century three-light mullion and transom casements with large panes, set beneath flat arches on ornamental consoles. At the left end of the main range, there is a six-panel bolection moulded door, with the upper two panels glazed, and an open timber porch supported by octagonal columns. There are also two additional boarded doors.
Inside, the main range features a heavy internal stack above the left-hand doorway and two smaller stacks. One ground floor room has exposed chamfered joists, and there are original newel stairs leading to the attic.
