Description
Hill Top Farmhouse is a farmhouse that consists of several sections, primarily dating from the 16th century, with the rear section possibly being even older. The main range to the north is likely from the mid-16th century. Both the main range and a later addition are set forward and are now connected by further additions made around 1950. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. It features a mix of single storey and attic spaces, as well as two storeys, with the main range being two storeys and an attic.
The farmhouse has various casement windows from the mid-20th century and a mid-20th century entrance door. Notably, at the rear of the main range, there is a good original five-light slightly projecting moulded mullion window. The gable ends of the main range have small pent roofs at eaves level, which protect the first-floor windows. Each main section has one internal stack. Inside the main range, there is fine exposed framing with tension braces and two good diamond mullion windows on the first floor. The right-hand wing features re-used moulded beams on the ground floor, which may have been brought from elsewhere in the house.
