Description

Oakenhill Hall is a former manor house that features a stone tablet on the north gable end inscribed with 'BONA VERBA QVAESO ANNO DNI 1552', suggesting it may have an earlier core. A single-storey extension was added to the southeast in 1937. The main structure has a short cross wing at the south end, which originally extended further to the west. The building is primarily constructed of red brick, with dark header diaper work on the north gable and to the east of the main range. A small section is timber framed and plastered, with stone dressings at the plinth and a plaintiled roof. The main range has three storeys and features various casement windows, mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries, with modern diamond leaded glass. The entrance door on the east side of the main range is boarded.

The north gable end remains largely intact, showcasing crowstepped design with octagonal buttresses topped by pinnacles with stone caps. At the second floor level, there are two 2-light stone windows with enriched hood moulds and pediments above. At the apex of the gable, there are two detached octagonal flues with moulded bases and caps. The interior has been significantly altered; the main hall displays exposed joisting, and some exposed framing can be seen on the first floor, including a 4-centre arched doorhead.
