Description
Moat Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid 16th century, with an early 17th century service cross wing on the left side and mid 20th century additions at the rear. The building is timber framed and plastered in panels, featuring some 20th century pargetting, including an attractive cornucopia design above the porch. The facade of the cross wing is finished with colourwashed brick, and the roof is covered with plain tiles.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with an attic in the main range. The main range has three windows, which are mid 20th century three-light and four-light casements. There is a lobby entrance with a 20th century porch and a plank door, along with an internal stack. The cross wing contains one original mullion window, while another has been blocked. The main range also has three blocked four-light diamond mullion windows in the rear wall, newel stairs, and some original doors on the first floor. The roof features queen posts, and there is a good original solid tread straight staircase leading to the first floor of the cross wing.
