Description
White House is a house built in the early to mid-19th century, with some earlier work likely at the rear. It is constructed of white brick and features a hipped slated roof. The building has two storeys plus a semi-basement and presents a symmetrical facade with five windows that have inset sashes and glazing bars, along with flat brick arches. The basement has blank panels.
The entrance is accessed by a flight of six steps leading to inset half-glazed double doors, which have panelled reveals and a moulded architrave. A portico with fluted columns and pilasters supports an entablature above the doorway. The house has wide overhanging eaves with a wooden paired bracketed cornice. Inside, there is a good staircase of earlier date, featuring two balusters per tread.
