Description
Brick Kiln Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century. The right-hand gable end is marked with the date 'R.G.G 1888', and there is a single-storey 19th-century wing on the left side. The building is timber framed, with parts of it roughcast rendered and other sections cased in colourwashed brick. The roof features black pantiles on the front and slates on the rear. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, following a three-cell plan. It has three windows, which are various mid-20th-century casements. The entrance lobby includes a late 19th-century six-panel raised and fielded door, flanked by pilasters, with a fluted frieze that has enrichments and a cornice. There is one internal stack and a small external stack on the left gable end. Inside, some framing is exposed, mainly at the left end. The central room on the ground floor features chamfered joists, some 17th-century panelling, and an original three-light moulded mullion window, which is blocked. The original stairs have been removed, likely in the 19th century.
