Description
Cliff House and Shrimp Cottage are two dwellings that were originally a single house built in the early 19th century. A projecting bay was added to the front in the late 19th century, and the property was subdivided in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a gault-brick facade. The front roof is covered in slate, while the rear roof is pantiled and features a partly rendered ridge stack.
The exterior has a two-storey, three-bay front, with the right bay projecting and a further single bay to the right. In the angle to the left of the projecting bay, there is a six-panel door with a geometric overlight, sheltered by an early 20th-century glazed porch. To the left of this door, there is a 6/6 unhorned sash window with a rendered and painted skewback arch. On the first floor, there are two similar sash windows. The projecting bay has canted corners and tripartite windows on both floors, with glazing bars arranged in patterns of 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2. Each floor of the return has one 6/6 unhorned sash window that matches the main front. The eaves cornice is moulded and dentilled.
Shrimp Cottage occupies the single bay to the right and features a half-glazed 20th-century door with a small casement window to the right. The first floor has a 3/3 unhorned sash window, and there is a flat dormer with a 20th-century top-hung casement window.
Inside, there is a late 19th-century stick-baluster staircase.
