Description

SPINDRIFT is a pair of cottages, originally a row of four, located in Southwold. The core of the building dates to the mid-18th century, with a mid-19th century extension to the rear and conversion to two houses around 1970. The cottages are constructed of red brick with a pantiled roof, hipped at the right end, featuring a rendered ridge stack to the right of the centre.

The two-story, dormer-attic front has a four-window facade with an irregular arrangement of windows. There are two 20th-century glazed doors, one to the left and one to the centre. The ground floor has three unhorned 6/6 sash windows, while the first floor has four similar flush-framed sash windows. The left-hand first-floor sash window has horns. Two dormers with 2-light 20th-century casements are set into the roof. The rear elevation was altered in the late 20th century and fitted with casements.

Inside, the front ground floor room of one cottage retains a chamfered bridging beam and joists. The interior also contains a late 20th-century staircase and other modern details.
