Description

The Sternfield War Memorial is a First World War memorial that includes later additions. It is made of granite and is located in the churchyard, south of the Church of St Mary Magdalene, which is listed as Grade II*. The memorial features a rough-hewn granite monolith set on a three-stepped base, with a smooth surface at the front for the inscription.

The main inscription, crafted in leaded lettering, reads: "TO THE GLORIOUS DEAD / AND IN / GALLANT MEMORY / OF / (4 NAMES) / 1914 TO 1918." Additionally, there is a smaller rectangular granite plaque at the foot of the monolith that states: "(NAME) / N. IRELAND 1978."
