Description
Sternfield Hall is a house with an L-shaped plan, consisting of a south wing from the late 16th century and a north wing from the early 19th century. The south wing is timber-framed and plastered, featuring an 18th-century red brick casing on the west side and a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and a west facade with four windows, small pane casements, segmental arches, and an asymmetrical doorway with a half-glazed door. The eaves have a brick dentil cornice, and there is an internal stack.
The north wing is constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof and also has two storeys. Its symmetrical facade has three windows, with the central bay set forward. The windows are sash style with glazing bars in cased frames, topped with flat brick arches. The doorway is located in a semi-circular arched recess and features a mid-20th century half-glazed door with a semi-circular fanlight that has glazing bars. The central window on the first floor is set within an elliptical-arched recess, and there is corbelled brickwork at the gable ends. One room on the ground floor of the south wing has a ceiling with moulded joists.
