Description
The cart lodge at Pond Farm in Stoven is a late 18th century or early 19th century structure. It features walls made of red brick laid in monk bond and a roof covered in unglazed pantiles.
The building is four bays long and is positioned at right angles to the road, facing south towards the main access route into the farmyard. It is a single-storey, windowless cart lodge with a hipped roof. The open south side is supported by three oak posts with shoulders that hold up the wall plate.
Inside, the floor is undivided and made of concrete. The original roof structure consists of sawn common rafters over hewn tie beams, which still show the carpenters' assembly marks.
