Description

Uggeshall Hall is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th to 17th centuries, with alterations made in the mid-18th century. It is constructed from timber framing and plaster, featuring a lean-to extension at the rear made of red brick. The roof is pantiled, with glazed black tiles on the rear section. The building has two storeys and consists of a single range with short gabled cross wings on either side.

There are four sash windows with glazing bars in flush frames, and the main range includes an 18th-century three-light sashed bow window. The right-hand wing has a three-light small-paned casement window on the ground floor. The entrance features an asymmetrical doorway with a six-panel raised and fielded door, a rectangular fanlight with ornamental glazing bars, and sidelights framed by sunk pilasters. The doorway is topped with a cornice that has dentils and modillions.

A wooden modillion eaves cornice runs around the bow window, and there is an internal stack, with its upper part rebuilt. At the rear, there is one 18th-century window with square-leaded panes. Inside, the mid-18th-century staircase has three turned balusters per tread, a wreathed handrail, and carved tread ends. The entrance hall features an enriched plaster dentil cornice. The room to the right of the hall is fully panelled with raised bolection-moulded panels and has a wooden cornice, while the room to the left has a wooden dentil cornice.
