Description

The Benacre War Memorial is a grey granite structure located in the churchyard near the Church of St Michael, which is listed as Grade II*. The memorial features a plain Latin cross that stands on a rough-hewn, tapered plinth, reaching a height of approximately 2.1 meters.

On the west face of the plinth, there is a main inscription in raised leaded lettering that reads: "THIS CROSS WAS ERECTED/ BY THE PARISH TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF/ (NAMES)/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR/ COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914–1918."
