BARSHAM HALL ROAD Grange Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C16 to left; taller C17 range to right, in 2 phases. Timber framed, mid C20 textured render. Roof mainly of double Roman tiles; black pantiles to front slope of main range. 2 storeys, part with attics. The main range has 5 windows, 3-light casements mainly of mid C20 date; gabled porch with mid C20 entrance door. A shaped brick gable end which faced the road has been removed and the stack in this position rebuilt. The C16 range has smaller casement windows and a stack at the junction with the later part of the house. To the rear is a small C17 dairy wing with the first floor frame visible inside. The C17 range originally comprised a single chamber to which was later added a straight stair and an end parlour: all rooms have ovolo- moulded bridging beams, the later rooms with similarly-moulded end cornices. On the upper floor is a rebuilt mullioned window (blocked) and a little exposed studding. Original attic stairs with entrance door. The C16 range has been much altered.
