Description
Strickland House is a house built in the early 19th century, which was heightened and refronted around 1865, with early 20th-century extensions added at the rear. It is constructed of red brick with a gault brick front and features a slate roof with brick stacks located at the left end and right of the center.
The exterior showcases a three-storey, three-window front. At the center, there is an enclosed square porch with a shallow hipped roof that projects outward. The porch contains a half-glazed door with leaded glazing and single leaded lights on the sides. Above the porch, there is a canted bay window fitted with unhorned sashes in a 0/0 and 2/2 configuration. To the right of the porch is a full-height canted bay window, and to the left is a single-storey canted bay window, both featuring similar unhorned sashes. The remaining windows have 2/2 unhorned sashes.
Inside, the ground floor room to the left features a re-used early 17th-century bridging beam with sunk-quadrant mouldings. The staircase includes newel posts that were formerly part of a four-poster bed.
