Description

This is a mid-17th century house, refronted in the early 18th century and subsequently altered. It is timber-framed and originally constructed with a baffle-entry plan. The timber frame is now encased in red brick and the roof is covered in pantiles with a central ridge stack.

The exterior is two storeys and has a dormer attic. The fenestration is irregular. The central entrance is a 4-panel door, flanked on either side by 8/8 unhorned sash windows. To the extreme right is a 4/4 unhorned sash window, and to the extreme left a projecting window with glazing bars. The first floor has two 8/8 unhorned sashes, and a 4/4 unhorned sash at the far right. A platband runs along the first floor, and the eaves have a saw-toothed cornice. Two dormers have glazed cheeks and 3/3 and 3/6 unhorned sashes respectively.

Inside, the main bridging beams have sunk-quadrant mouldings and jewelled tongue stops with bars. An open fireplace retains some 17th century brickwork. A winder staircase is present. The roof structure includes principals, clasped purlins and collars.
