Description
Abbey Farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings, largely dates to the late 16th and early 17th centuries, though it may incorporate an earlier core. The farmhouse comprises a main range with cross wings positioned at each end; the right-hand cross wing includes a rear dairy extension. It is timber framed and plastered, with a plaintiled roof. The building is two storeys high plus an attic. The front has a five-window arrangement (including the cross wings), featuring predominantly three-light and four-light casement windows. A lobby entrance is located in the main range, with a pair of three-panel doors, the upper panels being glazed. A flat-roofed dormer is present. An internal stack originally contained three octagonal flues, the moulded bases of which remain, but the stack has been rebuilt above its original height. The right-hand cross wing has an external stack with three detached octagonal flues, each with moulded bases and linked caps.
