Description

The Chestnuts is a house dating from around 1790. It is built of colourwashed brick and has a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with the main elevation facing the rear. This side features a four-window range with inset sashes that have glazing bars and flat brick arches. There is an asymmetrical doorway with a six-panel door, where the upper four panels are glazed. Above the door is a semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars, supported by pilasters and topped with a broken pediment. The house also has a brick modillion eaves cornice and three small flat-roofed dormers, along with internal and gable end stacks. The facade facing the road includes another doorway with a six-panel door, pilasters, a frieze, and a pediment.
