Description
Queens Cottage is a former public house that underwent early 17th century rebuilding of a medieval house. It features a timber frame with roughcast render and a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic and has a three-window range with 19th century casements. On the left side, there are two coupled windows, and the doorway has a four-panel door with the upper two panels glazed, a wide architrave, and a small bracketed hood. There are two gabled dormers, one of which has a carved lintel. An internal stack is present, along with two rear extensions, one of which is thatched. Inside, the left-hand ground floor room has a ceiling adorned with various plaster motifs, including a double-headed eagle, fleur-de-lys, and a woman's head with a necklace. Similar plaster motifs can be found on the first floor, and some original internal doors remain.
