Description

Redhouse Farmhouse is a house from the late 18th century, and possibly earlier, located on London Road in Copdock. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, which may cover an earlier structure, and features slate roofs. The building has an external stack on the left gable and another at the rear. It has a rectangular plan with rear wings, stands two storeys tall, and includes attics and cellars.

The facade is symmetrical with three bays, and the ground floor is defined by three recessed arches. The central entrance features a six-panel door, where the upper two panels are glazed, and the lower two are flush and reeded. The door is framed by a reeded architrave with a panelled soffit and reveals that match the door. Above the door is a flat shallow canopy. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and are set beneath segmental arches on both storeys. There is also a leaded attic casement window on the left return.

At the rear, there is a central projecting stair bay topped with a gabled roof and a leaded cross-casement window, which appears to be from the early 18th century. The left and right wings are two storeys high, with the left wing likely dating from the same period as the front and featuring a similar ground floor window. The right wing serves as a service block. The right return has ground and first floor sashes with glazing bars, and a two-light attic casement.
