Description

STAPLEHURST FRITTENDEN ROAD TQ 74 SE (South side)

House. Early C19 possibly with earlier core. Later alterations. Ground floor red brick in Flemish bond, first floor tile-hung. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys, attic and cellar on chamfered brick plinth. Boxed eaves. Hipped roof. Brick ridge stack to right of centre. 2 hipped dormers with 2-light casements and moulded cornices, flanking stack. Irregular fenestration of 5 leaded casements; one 2-light and one single-light to left and regular 3-window front to rest of two 3-light and central 2-light casement. Tripartite sashes flanking porch and 16-pane sash to left. Rectangular flat-roofed red brick porch with moulded cornice and Gothick side lights, under second window from right. Panelled double doors up 4 steps. 2-storey parallel rear range in same materials, starting to rear of stack and extending to left, with hipped roof, projecting gable-end stack to left and ridge stack to left of centre. One hipped dormer, and 2 casements to front. Interior not inspected.
