Description
Otterington Hall is a house dating from the early 19th century, with later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a graduated stone slate and Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and five bays, arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern. The left-hand bay is from the 19th century. The central bay, which slightly projects forward, has five steps leading up to a six-panel door with an overlight, set within a semicircular porch. This porch is supported by two plain Greek Doric half columns and two pilasters, which hold up a frieze and cornice. Flanking the door are sash windows with glazing bars. The other bays contain tripartite windows with glazing bars, except for the right-hand bay, which has a single sash window with glazing bars. On the first floor, the central and left-hand bays have tripartite windows with glazing bars, while the other bays have sash windows with glazing bars. All windows are equipped with stone sills and have keyed flat stuccoed arches above them. The building features a dentilled wooden cornice and a blocking course above the central bay. The roof is hipped over the central three bays and the outer bays, with stacks located inside the outer bays. In the centre, there is a large stack with a cornice, and at its centre is a five-pane window.
