Description

Newsham Grange is an early 18th-century farmhouse located in South Otterington. It is constructed of red brick with a pantile roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is arranged over two storeys with five bays. The central bay features a 20th-century half-glazed door set within a 20th-century porch. Bays 1, 2, and 4 each contain narrow eight-pane sashes, while bay 5 is blank. All ground-floor window and door openings are topped with flat brick arches. A band runs across the first floor, and bays 1 and 4 have eight-pane sashes, with the remaining bays being blank. A second band and eaves band are visible at the top of the building. The roof is a two-span design. Stone kneelers are present, with the one on the left being shaped, and the building is finished with stone coping and end stacks to all four gables. The interior features a plain dogleg staircase. A front room on the left side of the house contains a good round-headed, panelled cupboard.
