Description

Copdock Lodge is a house that likely has a core dating from the 17th century, with later encasement in the 18th century, extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries, and refurbishment in 1901. The building is constructed of red brick, which may be encasing a timber frame, and features plain tile roofs. It has external brick gable end stacks and is two storeys high with attics and a cellar. The facade was formerly symmetrical and consists of five uneven bays, with a brick band and a coved cornice adorned with modillions.

On the first floor, there are five sash windows with glazing bars set in flush frames, all beneath flat arches. The central door features a moulded architrave and a flat canopy supported by brackets, while a 20th-century part-glazed door is present. To the left of the door, there is a long 11-light diamond leaded casement window beneath a moulded brick hoodmould, and to the right, a taller 5-light square-paned casement window beneath a painted hood mould. The building also has three 18th-century dormers, each with 2-light casements. At the rear, 19th-century wings have replaced a former catslide roof.

Inside, there is an 18th-century dog leg stair with turned balusters, two per tread, scrolled tread ends, a moulded oak rail, and turned newels. The interior also features 16th-century style panelling, along with beams and cornices from the early 20th century.
