Description

TM 14 SW WASHBROOK BACK LANE (SOUTH SIDE) 2/30 (7/368) Gainsborough, Chelmesis and Inglenook GV II House, divided in three. Wrongly described as Stebbings on former list. Early to mid C16. Timber framed, part rendered, rendered brick plinth, hipped and gabletted plaintile roof. Stack to right of centre, and to front of ridge, the shaft of C19 or C20 brickwork. 2 storeys, probably a former open hall house. Gainsborough (left); part-glazed door with vertical light to left, and 4-pane casement above. Left hand return has first floor C18 timber casement with original fittings. Chelmesis; boarded door with C20 small paned window with upper hung light, 4-pane casement above. Small 4-pane window to ground floor to right. Far right C20 small paned casement, similar to central bay, with small pane casement, similar to other first floor windows, above. Flat roofed extension to right with C20 door. Part of first floor framing exposed, with heavy jowled corner post. Interior of only Gainsborough inspected, and in this the frame covered over.
