Description
Rosemary Cottage and Hillside is a house, divided into two sections, dating from the mid to late 16th century. It features a timber frame that is rendered, with some remnants of pargetting visible on the first floor of Rosemary Cottage, while the ground floor is entirely cased in brick. The building has plaintile roofs and consists of three cells across two storeys. There are two 20th-century doors leading into the left and right sections. Hillside has two three-light timber casements, and Rosemary Cottage has one. On the first floor, there are six timber two-light casements, with two per cell; the ones for Hillside are 20th-century replacements. The right-hand gable includes a four-light mullion window at the first floor. There is an axial brick stack located between the first and second cells, and an external stack on the right-hand gable.
Inside Hillside, there are chamfered beams and joists with run-out stops, and the brick stack is likely made of 17th-century brick. A cambered tie beam is present, but its braces are missing. Remnants of four-light diamond mullion windows can be found at the front and rear, along with wattle slots on the frame. In Rosemary Cottage, the stack has been rebuilt, and it features higher ceilings with mixed joists.
