Description

Gwyndy is a two-storey house featuring four windows and a slate roof, with rectangular brick chimneys. The windows are sixteen-pane hornless sashes set within moulded architraves. The third bay includes a later 19th-century semi-hexagonal bay that has horned sash windows on both floors. The entrance doorway is located between the first and second bays, framed by a simple early 19th-century doorcase with Doric pilasters and a cornice above. The right gable end has a window in the apex and a small stained glass window at the first-floor level. On the ground floor to the left, there is another entrance doorway with an early 19th-century pedimented doorcase. The angle at the rear of the house is jettied, featuring a broadly-proportioned first-floor window and a small ground-floor window with casement glazing. At the rear, there is a wing constructed of rubble with brick dressings and a yellow brick chimney; the gable end facing the garden has a broad modern window on the first floor and two camber-headed windows with modern glazing. An early 20th-century bathroom extension and a glazed outshut are situated between the house and the wing.

Inside, the interior has been remodelled in the later 19th century, but the timber-framed construction is still visible through heavy stop-chamfered beams, some of which are exposed while others are plastered. There are also exposed timbers, particularly in the northwest section of the house, where the attic is supported by a chamfered beam with brackets that feature chip-carved enrichment, similar to those found at Old White Lion and The Hall.
