Description
This is a house, likely dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations. The southern portion was heightened in the early 19th century and given a brick casing to the ground floor. It is a small building constructed in two parts, stepping up the slope of the land.
The northern part, facing the road, has a timber frame exposed on the north gable, with red brick infilling projecting. The other elevations are roughcast. The ground floor is painted brick with a tiled offset below the frame. It has one window on each floor, along with an entrance, all within the north gable. A side wall chimney is located on the west side.
The southern part, which is two storeys tall, has a slate roof and a projecting external chimney on its southern gable. It also has a small, slated lean-to on the south end. Windows include a 3-light casement window on the ground floor with a segmental arch, a flush 2-light casement window to the first floor, and a flush-box sash window with 6/6 panes on the front first floor. A plank door is set in a heavy frame with a dripboard extending over the door and window, and accessed via two steps.
Inside, the timber frame reveals unjowled posts, long straight braces, close-spaced studs, a collar-and-tie-beam, and a clasped-purlin roof. Yard gates are located on the east side.
