Description
The Limes is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building is a single-span range facing north and features a stack at each gable end. There are single-storey extensions at the rear and a garage to the left. The house has two storeys with attics.
On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century bays with sash windows arranged in a 2-4-2 light configuration, each topped with hipped roofs made of decorative half-octagonal slates. The first floor contains two 20th-century casements in their original openings, which have flat arches made of gauged brick. There is also a central original sash window with 6 + 3 lights set in a round arch of gauged brick, featuring a stone key and springers. Additionally, there are two 19th-century casements in gabled dormers.
The entrance features a six-panel door, four of which are glazed, set within a recessed porch that has panelled jambs. Above the door is an overlight with geometrical tracery, flanked by plastered pilasters, a pulvinated frieze, and a pediment. A dentilled course runs below the eaves.
