Description

TOLLESHUNT D'ARCY NORTH STREET TL 91 SW and TL 9211-9311 (south-east side) 3/72 and 7/72 No. 11 (The Old Bakery) GV II

House. C17, extended in C18 and C19. Timber framed, mainly plastered, partly weatherboarded, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays facing NW, with central stack. C18 wing to rear. One bay added to right of main range in C18/early C19, formerly used as a bakery. C20 extension in rear right angle, roofed with red clay pantiles. C19 single-storey cottage to left of main range, now combined with main building. Main range of 2 storeys, rear wing of one storey with attics. Ground floor, 2 C20 casements and one C20 bay. First floor, 3 C20 casements. 4-panel door with simple canopy on profiled brackets. In main range, jowled posts, chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, plain joists of vertical section. Large wood-burning hearth facing to left, with C20 alterations. Arched aperture of former baker's oven in right extension, oven demolished. C18 hearth at back of rear wing, with semi-circular interior, with C20 alterations.
