Description

Floodgate Cottage is a 17th to 18th century timber-framed house located on Bear Street in Nayland with Wissington. The front of the cottage is plastered, while the east and west ends are weatherboarded. It has two storeys at the front and one storey with attics at the rear. The building features a four-window range with small horizontal sliding sashes that include glazing bars. There is one boarded door, which is topped by a shallow sloping hood supported by small brackets. The roof is covered with old tiles and has a central rectangular chimney stack. At the rear of the cottage, there are three gabled dormers.
