Description

School Farmhouse is a lobby-entrance type farmhouse. An undecipherable date at the base of the chimney was recorded in 1947 as 1694. The farmhouse is constructed of brick and has a pantiled roof. It is two storeys and an attic in height, comprising three bays. It has segmental arched windows, fitted with 19th-century three-light casements incorporating transoms on the ground floor; the original window openings are now blocked. A 19th-century door is located opposite an off-centre axial stack. There is also a gable-end stack. The original roof was steeply pitched and features parapetted gables. A continuous outshut extends to the rear, and there is a later low side extension. The original winding stair is situated on the entrance side of the stack.
