Description
The River House is a large house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and has slate roofs. The building consists of three blocks, with the central block being fully advanced. It is mainly two storeys high and has cellars. The main facade is symmetrical with three bays featuring sash windows that have glazing bars, all set beneath skewback arches. The front door is panelled and includes a fanlight, topped by a 20th-century pedimented doorcase. The house has twin bracketed eaves and a hipped roof. There are segmental bay windows on the sides. The east wing has two bays and features a central two-leaf French window. The west wing appears to be single storeyed and has two very large sash windows with glazing bars. The house is topped with four tall stacks.
