Description

No. 30 The Close is a Grade II* listed building that was originally used for an unknown purpose and is now a house. It dates from the early 19th century but incorporates masonry from the 14th and 15th centuries. The building is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a brick structure with a pantile roof, arranged in an L-shape. It has two storeys, with a projecting left-hand bay and two first-floor windows on the return side. To the right, there are two sash windows with glazing bars. The entrance is a part-glazed door located in a corner turret, with a casement window above it. The central sash window with glazing bars is found in the projecting bay. At the rear, there is a 14th or 15th-century stone doorway with a two-centre arch. The roof has two piles with tumble-in brickwork on each west gable.
