Description

27 The Close is a Grade II* listed former building of unknown use, now functioning as a house. It features a medieval block that was raised in the 17th century, with 19th and 20th century extensions at the rear. The exterior is constructed of flint rubble that has been stuccoed, topped with a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and displays two widely spaced windows on the first floor. The right-hand door is off-centre and flanked by fluted Doric pilasters, with a wide architrave that includes a central band of guttae and a flat hood with a mutule. The ground and first floors have sash windows with glazing bars and plain reveals. There are also two gable dormers featuring 3-light casements and bargeboards, along with a central stack.
