Description

The Statue of Lord Nelson, created in 1847 by sculptor Thomas Milnes, is a Grade II listed monument located in The Close. This life-size statue depicts Lord Nelson in his Admiral's uniform, though it is missing its right forearm. At the statue's feet rests a cannon. The statue stands on an octagonal granite plinth, which features the name "Nelson" inscribed on it, and is supported by an octagonal pedestal.
