Description
71 The Close is a Grade II* listed house that dates back to the early 17th century, with 18th century and later extensions. The building is constructed of flint and brick, featuring brick extensions, and has a pantile roof. It stands three storeys high and has three bays, with a two-storey, single-bay extension on the left side that was added in the 18th century. The entrance is a left-hand off-centre partly glazed door, flanked by two-light windows. To the right of the door, there are three and four-light frieze windows. The first floor has three-light mullion and transom windows, while the gables feature sash windows. Inside, there is a 17th century staircase located in a projecting turret against the north wall, along with a fine early 18th century staircase with moulded risers in a turret against the south wall.
