Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on a sloping site, numbered 21 to 27 on Elm Hill. The buildings date to the 17th century and have been altered later. They are timber-framed and rendered, with the rear of number 27 having pantile hanging. The roofs are hipped and covered with pantiles. Numbers 21 to 25 are three storeys high, while number 27 has three storeys and a basement at ground level. A continuous jetty marks the first floor. The terrace has four first- and second-floor windows. Steps of varying height lead up to four-panelled front doors, which alternate with four ground-floor windows containing glazing-bar sashes and external shutters. Number 27 has two 19th-century basement shop windows featuring fluted pilasters, flanking an angled, half-glazed corner door. First-floor windows are sash windows, and second-floor windows are casements, all with glazing bars.
