Description
The Monastery is a house, workshop, and store dating from the early 18th century. It is built of red brick with a pantiled roof and features central brick ridge chimneys. The building is situated on a sloping site and consists of three storeys and a basement. The front has a three-window range, with a central 18th-century door that has two large, raised and fielded panels, set in a wider blocked opening with a cambered brick arch. To the right, there is a small 20th-century cellar door below two 18th-century sash windows with thick glazing bars. To the left, there is another blocked door, which may have originally been a window, leading to double loading doors. The upper floors have wooden casements, some with iron frames, and a single-light casement on the second floor features leaded lights on pale green glass. The left gable has been rebuilt. The rear elevation includes sashes in flush fronted wooden frames, as well as wooden mullioned casements with three, five, and six lights.
