Description
Cotman House is an 18th-century former house, now offices and flats, situated on the north-west side of St. Martin-at-Palace Plain. The building is three storeys high, with a semi-basement, and comprises five bays. The central entrance features a moulded surround with consoles supporting an architrave incorporating a swag and a small flat hood, approached by six steps. Sash windows with glazing bars are present throughout, each with rubbed brick flat arches. A string course runs between the ground and first floors, and the building has a dentil eaves cornice. A plaque commemorates that the artist John Sell Cotman (1782-1842) lived in the house.
