Description
The building at 1-9 Mespole Street is a former structure of unknown original use, now converted into flats. Dating to the 17th century, it bears datestones indicating work was carried out in 1882 and 1888, and it has been renovated in the 20th century. Nos. 7 and 9 are built of red brick, while Nos. 1 to 5 have a rendered finish. The roof is covered with pantiles. The right-hand two bays have gables facing the street. The building is two storeys high and has six first-floor windows, one of which is blocked. There are also two first-floor windows in the right-hand bays. A carriage entry is located centrally between Nos. 7 and 9. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars and flat arches; on the right-hand side of the first floor are two two-light casement windows. A box cornice runs along the top of the building. Five dormer gables, each containing a sash window, are present.
