Description
The Priory, located on London Road, is a building dating from the 17th century and later. It features a brick and carstone construction with a tiled roof, and it stands two stories tall with attics. The building has an irregular plan and includes sash and casement windows, along with some blocked brick mullion windows. The west side showcases stepped gables, and there are brick chimneys with octagonal shafts and moulded bases.
The front gabled wing displays rustications at both the ground and first floors. The front wall is made of carstone with a brick coping and a plinth that is 4 feet high. The lower wing at the southeast contains a modern shop at the corner, while No 6, also two stories with an attic, has a mostly blank facade facing the road. It features an old tiled roof, a knit gable, and a first-floor band. There is a flush frame casement window at the first floor with glazing bars, along with two flush frame casements at the ground floor, also with glazing bars, made of carstone with red brick dressings.
Nos 4 and 6 are part of a group that includes Nos 5 and 7.
