Description
Stuart Court is a pair of almshouses built in 1914, featuring a red brick construction and a pantile roof. The building is set back from the street and has projecting wings that extend outward along the street line. It stands two stories tall and consists of seven bays arranged in the pattern A.B.C.D.C.B.A, with five-bay wings and three-bay returns along the street.
The principal facade includes end and left-hand off-centre entrances that have later 20th-century glazed doors. There are single-storey canted bay windows in the penultimate end bays, which are adorned with balustrading. The windows throughout are casement style, with semi-elliptical arches featuring keystones at the ground floor and flat arches at the first floor. The projecting central bay has stepped Dutch gables above the bay windows. A memorial tablet to James Stuart is located in the centre bay.
The projecting wings have central doors with 20th-century glazing and a window above. Flanking the door are single-storey canted bay windows, and the street-facing side features a central canted bay window with a gable above, along with end gables.
