Description

Bush Farmhouse is a farmhouse and attached barn that has been converted into a single dwelling. It dates back to the 16th century with later alterations. The building is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a thatched roof. The original farmhouse, which forms the south block, has two storeys and a dormer attic. There is a 20th-century door to the right of a three-light casement window under a segmental head. At the first floor, there are two three-light casements, all with late 20th-century details. The gabled roof includes a single sloping dormer with a 20th-century casement. The south gable was rebuilt in 1984-85, while the 16th-century north gable features moulded kneelers and an external stack that has been incorporated into the former barn. The north section of the building has a square panelled plinth with roll mouldings. The rear displays a decorative pattern of lozenges made from brick and flint. There is a 19th-century pantiled outshut that was rebuilt in the 20th century. Inside, the property features chamfer stopped joists and one six-light hollow mullioned window at the first floor overlooking the 19th-century outshut. The roof consists of two tiers of butt purlins and collars. The north section, which was the former barn, has three 20th-century casements in altered openings and a gabled roof. The interior was remodelled in 1985.
