Description

BELTON BROWSTON LANE TG 40 SE (west side) 7/3 Browston Green The Manor House 27.ll.54 (formerly as Manor Farmhouse with attached barn) - II

Farmhouse with attached barn, now converted into single house. Early C17, rebuilt 1689, restored and altered mid C20. Brick on brick and flint plinth. Thatched roof. Baffle entry plan. 2 storeys. South front has irregular bay disposition. C20 door left of centre under C20 timber porch. To left of door is a datestone N.R.S. 1689. 4 leaded C20 casements to each floor. In addition one small square window to ground floor and 2 similar to first floor. Gabled roof. Rebuilt ridge stack left of centre and internal gable end stack to east : rectangular plinth carrying moulded base and 2 rebuilt octagonal flues. Eastern gable head is on moulded kneelers. Rear also with C20 leaded casements. One C19 and one C20 flat-topped single storey extensions. Interior. Bridging beams and joists intact. Fireplace to east room is 4- centred and enriched with roll and hollow mouldings, the jamb stops are tongue and barred.
