Description

Lodge Farmhouse is a former farmhouse with a core dating back to the 17th century, which has undergone significant alterations in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The original timber-framed structure has been rebuilt in early 18th century red brick, featuring higher eaves. The roof is covered with black pantiles and has cresting along the ridge, along with bargeboards that have pierced trefoils. The building has two storeys and attics, with the entrance facade facing north.

There are five late 19th century inset large-paned sash windows set under segmental arches. The central doorway features a four-panel door and a late 19th century stone doorcase with a console-bracketed cornice. The facade also includes two dormers, an internal stack, and a gable stack on the left side. To the right, there is a late 18th or early 19th century wing that is set forward, while a two-storey addition on the left has a crenellated parapet.

At the rear, there is a late 18th century doorway with an inset six-panel door, eared architrave, convex frieze, and a pedimented modillion cornice. The interior has been much altered, but one ground floor room retains a dentil cornice, a fireplace with an eared surround, and a matching overmantel featuring Adam-style decoration. The late 18th century staircase has a wreathed handrail with two turned balusters for each tread. Notably, part of the outer face of one 17th century gable end is visible at first floor level, primarily made of large knapped flint.
