Description
Swanton Lodge features a pair of carriage gates, gate piers, railings, and bollards, dating from around 1810. The gates are made of cast iron and are accompanied by cast iron piers topped with urns, as well as straight railings. The gate piers are constructed from gault brick with stone bases, showcasing rustication and stone urns with gadrooning. To the south, there are curved railings on a stone plinth that end with a brick pier capped in concrete. To the north, a curved railing includes a pedestrian entrance to the gate lodge. On the axis with each of the main gate piers, there are two freestanding cast iron bollards. This structure forms a group with the gate lodge.
