Description

Blue Tile House is a 17th-century double pile house with an early 19th-century facade and some details from around 1900. The facade is made of gault brick, with brick returns and a rear section, and some flint is present on the west end gable of the front pile. The house has two storeys with attics and features a slightly irregular five-bay facade. The ground floor includes bay windows with lead glazing bars, while the first floor has five leaded casements. There is a two-part glazed door beneath a metal canopy, and the entrance bay is slightly set forward. The building has end pilaster strips, a first-floor plat-band, and moulded brick kneelers. A wooden eaves cornice is present, except over the entrance bay where there is a moulded brick cornice with a parapet and coping above. Three flat-roofed dormers with leaded glazing are also visible. The house has a central stack and two end stacks with coped parapets. The rear section dates from the late 17th or early 18th century and features four leaded cross windows on the ground floor and a central half-landing window for the staircase. The first floor has a plat-band and a dentil eaves cornice, with two end stacks and two eaves stacks. To the north, there is a long single-storey brick and pantiled wing. Both west end gables have leaded casements.
