No 54 on Staithe Street is an early 18th-century shop that stands alone, featuring passageways on either side. It is two stories high with an attic, constructed of stucco that is lined and painted. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles, and there is a square-headed dormer with a wooden eaves band. On the first floor, there is a Venetian window flanked by fluted pilasters, which is set in a recessed panel with a three-centred head. The shopfront has a wooden case with pilasters and a dentil cornice. The south side has a blank red brick return, while the entrance is located on the north return, featuring a glazed door and a one-story wing that is set back.
