Description

The Swan Cafe, located at No. 5 High Street, is an early 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic. It features painted stucco and has a bracketed cornice, topped with an old tile roof. The building includes two gabled dormers and two second-floor windows. The shop front, which is possibly from the early 19th century, consists of two rectangular bays, each containing five large panes. There is a half-glazed central door and a modern shop front designed in a rounded style reminiscent of the 19th century. A small painted sign hangs on a wrought iron bracket. The Swan Cafe is part of a group that includes Nos 1, 6, 6A, 6B, 7A, and 7 Market Square.
